A safari off the beaten track for experienced Africa enthusiasts, to western and northeastern Zambia. The Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park lies in close proximity to Victoria Falls. Here, not only elephants, giraffes, and buffalo roam the bush, but you too will explore on foot, always accompanied by an experienced guide and an armed ranger. The journey continues to Sioma Falls in the far southwest of the country, where you will visit the waterfalls. Liuwa Plain National Park is home to Africa's second-largest wildebeest migration each year, surpassed only by the famous Great Migration in the Serengeti. Your advantage in Zambia: you will be virtually alone in the African wilderness, as you will rarely encounter other safari vehicles.
Kafue National Park is definitely one of the best-kept secrets among safari destinations in Southern Africa. Although designated a national park as early as 1950, it still boasts vast, untouched areas that are relatively untouched by tourists. It's an ideal habitat for lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo, hyenas, and African wild dogs, which you can spot during game drives and a boat safari on the Kafue River.
To conclude your journey, you'll visit Kasanka National Park, where the second Great Migration awaits! From October to December, over 10 million fruit bats arrive in the forests of the national park, drawn to the numerous mango and berry fruit trees. This impressive natural spectacle between sunrise and sunset is the largest gathering of mammals in the world. Spotting sitatunga antelopes, puku, elephants, and blue monkeys are also compelling reasons to visit the park.
